The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Proton therapy: A minimum of 1-year proton therapy treatment experience required (including during residency training). Applicants must have an M.D. degree. The preferred candidate must be Board Eligible or Board Certified for the American Board of Radiology. ABR certification is expected to be maintained throughout the duration of employment with Penn.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching, training and mentoring of radiation oncology residents, medical physics residents, medical physics graduate students, visiting physics residents or trainees from other institutions or other countries, etc. Other informal and formal teachings include, but are not limited to participating in resident didactic series, both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant.

Clinical responsibilities may include treatment on various disease sites, treatment with proton therapy, the evaluation and management of patients diagnosed with cancer, and the delivery of radiation therapy-related care.

The broad range of radiation treatments available include External-Beam Radiation Therapy (Proton Therapy, Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Photodynamic therapy (PDT), Total body irradiation (TBI), Total skin electron beam therapy (TSEBT)), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (CyberKnife, Edge, Gamma Knife, TrueBeam), as well as Internal Radiation Therapy (brachytherapy, MammoSite).

With the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Radiation Oncology provides patient care at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and fourteen community-based sites.
