Solid Tumor Oncologist, Medicine, Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology

The Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center is seeking an outstanding medical oncologist to join our program for 6 months in solid tumor oncology with the opportunity to extend. This position has a focus on GI oncology, however expertise in the care of other solid tumor cancer types is required. The position is entirely outpatient, Monday - Friday. There is no call. The candidate will be expected to see patients in clinic/infusion two and a half days per week sharing a panel with a paired APP. Two and a half days per week are unscheduled for administrative duties, such as documentation, follow-up on patient calls, test results, and onsite management of urgent problems in infusion for their patients, providing attending back up for APPs if needed. Providers work in multi-disciplinary teams and can discuss patients at tumor board meetings if the needs arise for multi-disciplinary care planning. When patients are admitted, daily care is provided by inpatient teams. We have a hematology and oncology consultative service to assist in the coverage of our patients when admitted, however providers are expected to provide input to the inpatient teams regarding the oncologic care plan.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive oncology care for adult patients
  • Manage solid tumor oncology patients
  • Perform new patient consultations, follow-ups, and direct new and ongoing oncolytic treatment plans
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including APPs.
  • Utilize EPIC software for patient documentation
  • Maintain excellent patient care and satisfaction
  • Adhere to clinic policies and procedures
  • Participate in any required meetings or training sessions
  • Stay current with advancements in oncology
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.

Required Skills

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have an MD, MD PhD, or DO and will be BE/BC in Medical Oncology. BLS certification is required. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for a medical license in the state of Massachusetts.
