Position Description
The College of Business and Leadership (CBL) at Eastern University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, remote Program Director at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July/August 2026. We seek an educator and administrator who is eager to join a forward-thinking, vibrant academic community dedicated to Eastern University’s mission of faith, reason, and justice.
Candidates will be responsible for contributing to Eastern’s rapidly growing online programs and be a champion for artificial intelligence innovation in the College of Business and Leadership. As Program Director, the successful candidate will work closely with the Dean of CBL on strategic planning for the newly created M.S. in AI Business Strategy degree. Special consideration will be given to those with prior experience with online teaching and program coordination. Additional faculty responsibilities include scholarship, advising students, program administration, committee service, and college/university activities.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and advising while serving as the Program Director for the M.S. in AI Business Strategy program. As a faculty member, the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will involve teaching core courses (online) such as, but not limited to, AI for Efficiency, AI for Growth, AI Policy and Ethics, and the AI Business Strategy Capstone course, in addition to administrative duties in the management of the program. The faculty member may also teach other graduate-level business analytics and AI courses. In terms of course development, the faculty member will be responsible to review current AI Business Strategy courses and work with course developers to regularly update them, as well as create new courses in the program based upon expertise.
Position Responsibilities
Administrative:
- Curriculum development, revision, and assessment.
- Recruitment, hiring, and management of faculty and staff in collaboration with CBL staff.
- Faculty development and mentoring in collaboration with CBL staff.
- Graduate student oversight and advising
- Recruitment and admission of students in collaboration with the Enrollment Department
- Strategic Planning
- Commitment to and support of the Christian beliefs, values, and objectives of the University as embodied in its Doctrinal, Mission, and Goal Statements.
Teaching:
- The faculty member will teach 18 credit course load per year (which may include summer teaching), primarily at the graduate level and potentially in Eastern’s online undergraduate business program in the candidate’s area of expertise, in addition to the program administration responsibilities.
- Holds faculty status within the College of Business and Leadership
- Fulfills the expectations for faculty scholarship and creative/professional endeavors as required for a full-time faculty member.
- Undertakes all service requirements, including university committees, assignments, and functions required of a full-time faculty member-including the participation in academic department, college, and university meetings.
Qualifications
Candidates should:
- possess an advanced degree (Ph.D./D.B.A. preferred, M.B.A. with considerable teaching and/or professional experience considered)
- have demonstrated experience and expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, or related fields.
- exhibit evidence of outstanding teaching, scholarly, and professional excellence, and a passion for digital pedagogy.
- be adept in creating and teaching online courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.
- demonstrate proficiency in online learning tools and software platforms.
- have experience in coordinating/managing a program.
- be able to sign Eastern University’s doctrinal statement.
