Offer Description
The Rector of the University of Szczecin announces recruitment competition for the position of Assistant Professor (archaeology) at the Institute of History, University of Szczecin.
The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in Articles 113 and 116 of the Act of July 20, 2018, on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and in the Statutes of the University of Szczecin, and who meet the criteria specified in the competition.
The competition is the first stage of the procedure for hiring an academic teacher, and a successful outcome serves as the basis for further proceedings.

Skills/Qualifications
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in archaeology;
- documented expertise in Stone Age archaeology, lithic technology, experimental archaeology, environmental archaeology, as well as geology and geomorphology;
- Experience in conducting archaeological fieldwork outside Poland;
- five years of academic teaching experience;
- documented scholarly output (three publications subject to evaluation as defined by law, including at least two publications within the last three calendar years);
- specific research and publication plans;
- availability to attend classes throughout the week;
- agreement to employment on a standard full-time basis only;
- in the case of foreign nationals, proficiency in spoken and written Polish.

Applicants must submit the following documents:
- an application for employment addressed to the Rector of the University of Szczecin – in Polish;
- a curriculum vitae (if the applicant is a foreign national, a translation of the document into Polish is required);
- originals (or certified copies) of documents confirming the award of an academic title, degree, professional title, or equivalent; and, in the case of documents written in a language other than Polish, a certified translation of the document into Polish and a certificate of equivalence of the diploma to a Polish professional title/academic degree;
- a list of academic publications;
- a description of previous teaching experience and other achievements in the field of academic organization and science popularization;
- information on specific research and publication plans;
- a completed personal questionnaire for job applicants (downloadable form);
- a statement confirming compliance with the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act of July 20, 2018, on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended), (downloadable form);
- a statement confirming that the University of Szczecin will be the primary place of employment (downloadable form);
- Consent clause for the processing of personal data related to the recruitment process, together with the information clause (downloadable form);
- Certificate from the National Criminal Register confirming no criminal record for offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Criminal Code, in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Criminal Code (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 17, as amended) and in the Act of July 29, 2005, on Counteracting Drug Addiction (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939, as amended), or for prohibited acts corresponding to these offenses as defined in the laws of a foreign country—pursuant to Article 21 of the Act of May 13, 2016, on counteracting the threats of sexual offenses and the protection of minors (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 560).
In the case of a candidate who is a foreign national:
- a certificate of no criminal record from the criminal registry of the country of citizenship obtained for the purposes of professional or volunteer activities involving contact with children;

Benefits
For this position, the compensation package includes:
- base salary:
- from 7,050 PLN gross to 7,886 PLN gross per month – for holders of a doctoral degree,
- from 7,530 PLN gross to 8,450 PLN gross per month – for holders of a postdoctoral degree
- a position allowance for persons holding managerial positions or employed in managerial roles (Appendix No. 9 to Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- seniority allowance ranging from 0% to 20% (Section 16(1) of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- additional annual remuneration upon fulfilment of statutory conditions (§ 23 of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- long-service award (Section 22 of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- retirement or disability severance pay (Section 24(1)(2) of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026).
The person employed in this position may, in justified cases, receive:
- the Rector's Award (§ 19 of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- a task-based allowance (Section 17(1) of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- a project allowance (Section 10(1) of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026);
- a 10% increase in base pay for a period not exceeding 12 months prior to the termination of employment due to retirement, provided that all other conditions are met (§ 25 of Order No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin dated March 17, 2026).
Under condition of financial feasibility, the employer may provide the employee with health insurance (basic package).
