DEPARTMENT: Master of Arts in Art Therapy with Specialization in Counseling in the School of Visual and Performing Arts
SUPERVISED BY: This position reports directly to the Art Therapy Program Director and the Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Core faculty who will teach graduate courses in the Master's of Art in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling program and provide leadership for the graduate clinical Internship experience. This faculty member works collaboratively with the Art Therapy faculty to assure the Master's of Art in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling program is kept current, teaching practice is sound and contemporary, and the graduate program meets all CAAHEP requirements for program accreditation. Fulfills role and duties of Practicum/Internship Coordinator. Assists with marketing, recruitment, and enrollment of students. This is a tenure track position.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Teaches 7 courses annually in accordance with learning objectives specified by the Graduate Art Therapy Program
- One course release provided for Practicum/Internship coordination oversight
- Oversees Practicum/Internship coordination to graduate art therapy students
- Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics
- Assists in development and review of graduate curriculum in accordance with learning objectives specified by the Graduate Art Therapy Program
- Assists in preparation for all materials needed for professional and/or program review
- Participates in cross-disciplinary and curriculum discussions related to graduate and undergraduate level study
- Participates in recruitment and interview committee for graduate applicants
- Maintains required annual hours of training for professional credentialing requirements
- Demonstrate commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
- Participates in art therapy program meetings, art department meetings, and meetings of the School of Visual and Performing Arts
- Serves on university committees
- Assists with student Culminating Projects
- Pract/Int Coordinator advises SATA Club (Graduate and Undergraduate Student Art Therapy Association)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicant must have at minimum a master's in art therapy, counseling, counselor education or related field
- Registered and Board Certified (ATR-BC)
- Licensed as a Professional Counselor(LPC) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Has experience teaching and supervising at the graduate level
- Has experience as a clinician
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate preferred
Required applicant materials include: Letter of Application, Curriculum Vitae with evidence of ongoing professional work and three letters of recommendation. Applicants invited to a campus interview will, at that time, submit a portfolio of artwork, a teaching statement demonstrating commitment to art therapy's role in fostering anti-oppressive mental health care, and official transcripts. All finalists will be required to submit a Mission Statement.
