Job Summary
Morgan State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position (open rank) in the Department of Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative scholar with a strong commitment to research, teaching, and service in the area of rail transportation engineering. Candidates with strong industry experience will be considered for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice Position.
Job Duties
- Conduct high-quality research in the field of transportation and urban infrastructure.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to transportation systems engineering (particularly rail transportation).
- Develop and maintain a research agenda, including seeking external funding.
- Engage in collaborative research with faculty, industry partners, and government agencies.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics
Postdoc, industry, and/or prior teaching experience is preferred.
Required Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the position is expected to have the following minimum qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field or a master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of work experience.
- Evidence of ability to develop/update and teach undergraduate and graduate transportation systems courses in the areas of multimodal transportation planning and modeling, railway engineering, airport and seaport design and management, quantitative methods, and/or machine learning and big data analytics;
- Evidence of ability to secure grants and conduct/supervise high-level research in multimodal transportation
- Evidence of ability to work in a diverse and cross-disciplinary work environment;
- A strong record of research and publication in relevant fields.
