Position description

The Physics Department at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, quantum magnetism, topological phases, unconventional superconductivity, spintronics, and novel quantum order arising in exotic materials in three dimensional and low dimensional systems, such as van der Waals and layered heterostructures. Areas of expertise of interest include the synthesis of bulk and thin film materials, advanced spectroscopic and scattering techniques, quantum and mesoscopic transport, microscopic imaging and scanning probe techniques. We also encourage applications at the interface of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) or be enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
