Description
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a three-year, full-time, contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in the combined areas of biomedical engineering and speech, language, and/or swallowing science. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in biomedical engineering or a related area of research, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in rehabilitation engineering and biomedical image and signal processing, specifically in speech, language, and/or swallowing science. Candidates must have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the combined areas of biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and speech-language pathology and have experience in supervising research students and/or trainees. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental foci. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive and externally funded research program.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence, demonstrated by high-quality peer-reviewed publications in leading journals that meet high international standards, peer-reviewed funding, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments and the teaching dossier, including a teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to integrate clinical and scientific knowledge into their teaching design and delivery through the application materials.

The expected salary range is $115,000-$130,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
