Assistant Professor, Department of Biology (Plant Evolutionary Ecology)

The Department of Biology at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a probationary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with The University of Winnipeg Faculty Association Collective Agreement (2020-2027). Subject to budgetary approval, the date of appointment is anticipated to be July 1, 2026.

Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline with demonstrated connections to plant evolutionary ecology research. Experience with interdisciplinary research is welcomed. The successful candidate will have a commitment to innovative undergraduate teaching with expertise to teach undergraduate and graduate Biology courses, a strong research record, and an interest or experience in university service and governance. Applicants with postdoctoral or equivalent experience are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will demonstrate potential to develop an externally-funded research program that will augment the Department's existing research expertise.   • statement describing past research achievements and future research plans (max. 2 pages)
  • statement of teaching interest with evidence of teaching effectiveness (max. 2 pages)
