Assistant Professor Educational Psychology
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both face-to-face and asynchronous online formats. Courses to be taught may include classroom assessment, learning theories, human development, and motivation. This individual is expected to serve as a member of dissertation committees within the College or University. The Assistant Professor will engage in productive scholarship in the discipline, pursue extramural funding to support their research program, and provide service at the departmental, college, university, and professional levels. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment and is housed on the University's Statesboro campus.
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Educational Psychology, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Educational Psychology, by August 1, 2026
- Expertise in the areas of learning theory, motivation, assessment, and/or human development
- Ability and willingness to teach undergraduate and graduate courses
- Willingness to teach in-person and online courses
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring student research
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development
- Commitment to using technology in teaching and scholarship
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline
- Potential for securing extramural funding for research and/or training
- Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and University
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Experience with online teaching and learning
- Coursework in or experience with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research
- At least two years of teaching, or working in an official capacity with, P-12 students
Proposed Salary
Competitive and commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
