The CEPH accredited School of Public Health (https://www.memphis.edu/sph/contact/index.php) offers Master of Public Health degrees with concentrations in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Urban Health, and Social and Behavioral Sciences, as well as a Master of Science degree in Biostatistics and Master of Health Administration (MHA). The SPH also offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and PhD programs in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and in Social and Behavioral Sciences. In addition to these programs, we also offer Graduate Certificates including “Population Health Informatics” and “Health Analytics,” as well as an undergraduate Minor in “Population Health Informatics.”

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching four (4) 3-credit hour courses (2 each semester) in areas of Epidemiology and related fields. Advising and mentoring graduate students. Seeking extramural grants to support investigator-led research activity in a collaborative environment with focus in one or more of the following areas: chronic diseases, aging, allergic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, mental health, rural health, health informatics and artificial intelligence, or genetics and epigenetics. Engaging in interdisciplinary work and community-based research, collaborating with faculty from public health, computer science, engineering, and related fields to advance SPH initiatives. Developing and maintaining an active research program and publication agenda with peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding. Serving on committees to further develop, support, and enhance the Division and the School of Public Health.

Position Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field and experience commensurate with the academic rank of assistant professor. Candidates with a background and interest in research and teaching in chronic diseases, aging, allergic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, mental health, rural health, health informatics and artificial intelligence, or genetics and epigenetics, and have strong potential of securing extramural research funds, are especially encouraged to apply.
