ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION
for the position of
the Assistant Professor F/M
in the Civil Engineering Structures, Geotechnics and Concrete Department
in the group of research workers

Employment conditions:
- full-time employment;
- number of vacancies: 1;
- remuneration: fixed base salary, length-of-service allowance, quarterly bonus linked to the achievement of set targets, royalty payments;
- employment contract.
Place of work: Warsaw, Poland
Persons who meet the conditions specified in Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2026, item 741), as well as the conditions listed below, are eligible to enter the competition.
Qualification Requirements:
- PhD degree in engineering and technology in the discipline of civil engineering, surveying and transport.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in a scientific or research institution.
- Scientific output including at least 5 publications published within the last 3 years in journals included in the current list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
- Documented active participation in national or international scientific conferences.
- Experience in conducting experimental and in-situ tests of civil engineering structures using modern measurement and diagnostic methods.
- Experience in planning, implementing, and interpreting tests of civil engineering structures.
- Practical ability to perform nonlinear numerical analyses using the finite element method using ANSYS and at least one of the two: Graitec Advance Design or Dlubal RFEM.
- Experience in correlating experimental test results with numerical analyses.
- Knowledge of construction law regulations and structural design standards.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and drawings using AutoCAD.
- Experience in preparing scientific publications, test reports, and technical expert opinions.
- Experience in conducting training courses, seminars, or conference presentations.
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, enabling the Candidate to prepare scientific publications and engage in international cooperation.
- In the case of foreign nationals, fluent written and spoken Polish is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Category B driving licence.
Additional skills welcomed:
- Unlimited civil engineering and construction license.
- Experience in acquiring or implementing national and international R&D projects.
- Knowledge of optical and digital methods used in structural diagnostics, particularly 3D scanning techniques, digital image correlation (DIC), and non-destructive testing (NDT), will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of contact modeling methods, material damage, and nonlinear issues in FEM analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting scientific research and participating in the implementation of civil engineering structures R&D projects.
- Planning and conducting laboratory and in-situ tests of civil engineering structures using modern measurement and diagnostic methods.
- Developing numerical models of structures and performing linear and nonlinear finite element analyses.
- Correlating and interpreting the results of experimental studies and numerical analyses.
- Preparing test reports, opinions, expert opinions, and technical documentation.
- Preparing academic publications for renowned journals and presenting research findings at both national and international conferences.
- Involvement in the preparation of research projects funding applications as well as in the implementation of national and international projects.
- Cooperating with scientific institutions, public administration and industrial partners on research and implementation projects execution.
- Preparing 3D models of buildings, drawing documentation, and presentation materials for research purposes.

- A list of scientific publications with credits from the last three years, along with a description of scientific and engineering achievements.
- List of academic topics and research projects, with an indication of the roles held.
- A signed declaration stating that, should the candidate win the competition and take up the post, the Building Research Institute will be the primary place of employment for the duration of the contract in this position.
