Assistant Professor, Forensic Sciences (Tenure-Track)
Teaches coursework directly related to forensic science and crime scene investigation at the undergraduate and graduate levels, assists other faculty in organizing and operating a forensic science teaching laboratory, and conducts original research leading to publication in professional journals. Participates in public, community, and university service, promotes the development of the Forensic Science program at YSU, and acts as a liaison with the professional forensic science community. Communicates effectively, with appropriate responsiveness, to student needs and willingly commits to professional development. Participates in department and college recruiting activities. Assists in securing Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation (FEPAC) from the AAFS.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Work Schedule:Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:None
Minimum Qualifications:At least a master's degree in forensic science, a natural science, criminology, or criminal justice.
Preferred Qualifications:Doctoral degree in forensic science, a natural science, criminology, or criminal justice. Practical experience in crime scene investigations. Experience directing student research projects. Experience in online learning and/or instruction. Experience teaching at the university level. Membership in forensic science professional societies.
