Position overview
Position title: Junior Faculty Neurological Surgery Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $400,000 - $600,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. You can view the 2025-26 scales on the UCOP website.

Position description
The UC San Diego School of Medicine and the Department of Neurological Surgery are committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and are pleased to announce a recruitment for junior faculty neurosurgeon(s), with an anticipated start in 2027.

The faculty position(s) will include patient care, teaching, research, and strategic service line expansion, and may serve all affiliated clinical locations (La Jolla, Hillcrest, East Campus, and/or North County). Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD degree and be board-eligible in Neurological Surgery.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency program.
Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Additional qualifications
(required at time of start)
Candidates must have completed a fellowship in Skull Base, Spine, or Neurotrauma by the appointment start date.
