Job Description
Basic Function: The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction in the Human Services Program course offerings and for coordination of other courses within the discipline. The Human Services Program prepares students for entry level positions in public and private service agencies such as welfare, rehabilitation, mental health, schools, and probation and corrections.
Education:
Minimum qualification is a Master's degree in social work or a related field; OR above AND Master's in education or public administration; OR the Equivalent. Ph.D preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's or Doctorate degree in social work. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).
Experience:
Minimum of two years of professional or clinical experience in human services or social work is required. A minimum of 500 hours of field experience is required in Alcohol/Drug prevention and/or intervention, treatment and recovery programs. Instructors should be familiar with Alcoholics Anonymous and Social Model approaches. Ability to interact with community agency representative is desirable. Program development and implementation is desired. Two years of teaching experience in higher education is desired and teaching experience at a community college is preferred; one year of online teaching experience is preferred. Two years of field experience in alcohol/drug prevention and/or intervention, treatment, and recovery programs are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- The instructional assignment will include lecture and/or laboratory classes in the discipline.
- Responsible for working with community service agency representatives and with adjunct faculty to prepare students for entry level positions in public and private social service agencies such as welfare, rehabilitation, mental health, schools and probation and corrections.
- In conjunction with occupational advisory committee and department faculty, develop and implement new course and revised course proposals to meet evolving community needs for human service workers, including developing on site course offerings.
- Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement.
- Other responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
- Supervising student organizations and other co-curricular activities is expected of all faculty members.
- Responsible for maintaining and overseeing Human Services discipline course and program assessments.
Conditions of Employment:
- Ten-month, tenure-track position.
- Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.

- Orientation to college is required as is adherence to Improvement of Instruction policy.
- Maintaining broad knowledge of the academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes is expected.
- Responsible for all other conditions of employment required of full-time faculty members such as a willingness to be involved in District and College promotional activities, active participation in college committee work, student activities and other support services, and appropriate professional activities.
