Assistant Professor in AI & Politics

The Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. Successful applicants will have research and teaching interests in areas such as the regulatory, political, or ethical challenges of AI in public and private sectors; the social and political consequences of algorithmic approaches to public policy; or methodological development at the intersection of social science and AI. The position begins in August 2026 and is part of the university's investment in Socio-Political Analysis and AI. Successful candidates will collaborate on AI tools for social science research and grants.

Performance Objectives

Responsibilities include conducting research on AI's regulatory, policy, ethical areas, or consequences; mentoring and teaching in these areas; and engaging in interdisciplinary efforts on data analytics and AI.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: PhD completed by August 15, 2026, in a relevant field, with demonstrated capacity to integrate methodological insights with substantive research. Desired: Potential for securing external funding, mentoring students, and participating in interdisciplinary collaborations, aligned with OSU's Shared Values (here).
