Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology
The Psychology program in the Faculty of Arts at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Clinical Psychology. The preferred start date is July 1, 2026.
Candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment and relevant experience can be an asset. The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program.
- Be registered, or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).
- Areas of practice specialization and populations served are open.
- Active knowledge of both official languages (functional bilingualism); consideration of receptive bilingualism (passive comprehension of the French/English language) will be given in exceptional cases. Teaching will be in English.
- Evidence of the ability to effectively teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels with a commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence, promoting a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment, and advancing Laurentian University's bilingual and tricultural mandates.
- The versatility to support our master's program in clinical psychology, and our undergraduate program is critical. Teaching and research interests are flexible and varied.
- Evidence of very good research and scholarship with the potential to work collaboratively with colleagues, secure funding support and build internal and external interdisciplinary or intersectoral collaborations
- Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment.
- Candidates who do not meet the essential requirements are invited to include a detailed plan indicating how they plan to meet the CPBAO registration requirements.
In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful candidate will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community.
The Psychology program is the largest program in the Faculty of Arts. It offers three and four year undergraduate degrees, and a master’s degree in Applied Psychology. We take pride in attracting excellent students and providing a supportive environment where students, staff and faculty may thrive.
