"Assistant Professor in Computing Science"

The Department of Mathematics and Computing Science at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computing Science at the rank of Assistant Professor with a preferred start date of July 1, 2026.

The department hosts 16 research and teaching faculty (8 in Computing Science), a full-time technician, and offers Majors and Honours undergraduate programs in Computing Science, which are accredited by the Computer Science Accreditation Council of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS).

Job Information and Responsibilities: As an Assistant Professor, the successful applicant will: Create excellent and inclusive student learning experiences through development and delivery of computing science undergraduate courses; Develop and maintain an innovative, externally-funded research program in their field, with student involvement; Contribute to service activities, supporting the Department, Faculty of Science, University, and research community.

Experience and Education Requirements: A demonstrated track record and commitment to excellence in university teaching; PhD in Computing Science or a closely related field; Preference for expertise in generative AI, software engineering, data science, cloud computing, and cybersecurity; A strong record of innovative, peer-reviewed research and a plan for an independent, externally funded research program.
