The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb (hereinafter: the PMF), pursuant to Articles 32(1)(19), 73, and 77 of the Faculty Statutes, announces the following:
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for appointment
- to the scientific-teaching position of assistant professor in natural sciences, the field of geophysics, the branch of seismology and physics of the Earth’s interior, for an indefinite term and on a full-time basis, at the PMF, Department of Geophysics – 1 person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.
In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, applicants applying under any point of the Call must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).
Applicants under either point of the Call must enclose the following with their respective applications:
- CV,
- the relevant diploma or certificate as proof of the required level of academic qualifications;
- proof of citizenship (a photocopy of the certificate of nationality or identity card).
Applicants under point 1 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:
- a doctorate degree in natural sciences, the field of geophysics or a doctorate degree in technical sciences, the fields of mining, petroleum and geological engineering.
Applicants applying for point 1 must submit:
- proof of meeting the provisions of the National University, Scientific, and Artistic criteria for Academic Promotion in Croatia (Official Gazette 42/2026) (hereinafter: National Criteria). In accordance with the Transitional Provisions of the National Criteria, i.e. Article 98(1): 'Within 60 months from the date of entry into force of these National Criteria, in the procedure for appointment to an open scientific-teaching position of assistant professor, for appointment to a senior scientific-teaching position of associate professor, full professor, and a tenured full professor, as well as for reappointment to a scientific-teaching position of assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor, following an applicant’s request submitted before the expiration of the deadline for submitting proof of eligibility for the appointment or reappointment, the provisions of Annex I of these National Criteria, instead of Part Two, Title II, and Title III, as well as the provisions of Annex II of these National Criteria, instead of Title IV, shall apply to their appointment or reappointment: https://narodne-novine.nn.hr/clanci/sluzbeni/2026_04_42_506.html.
- proof of eligibility under the terms and conditions of the Call in accordance with Article 10 of the Ordinance on Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Science (which can be accessed on the PMF website).
The aforementioned additional conditions are proven by enclosing certificates of held classes and/or a list of published scientific papers.
Information for foreign nationals:
Foreign nationals applying under any point of the Call must provide, in addition to the above-listed documents, proof of Croatian language proficiency.
Applicants applying under any point of the Call who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and achieve top results in the selection procedures.

An application shall be deemed duly completed if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.
APPLICANT ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE:
The applicants applying under points 1, and 2 who satisfy the formal terms and conditions of the Call may be invited to take part in an interview as part of the selection procedure.
If invited, the applicants will receive an e-mail advising them of the time and place of the interview.
Any applicant who fails to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.
The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).
The submission deadline for point 1 of the Call is 40 days after publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.
