Assistant Professor In Middle Grades, Secondary And Specialized Subjects
Primary Purpose of the Organization
The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading and Special Education offers three degrees at the baccalaureate, and two degrees at the master's level with various concentrations. These programs lead to a North Carolina initial or advanced license. In addition, the Department offers four North Carolina initial licensure only programs for candidates who already hold a bachelor's degree.
- BS in Birth-to Kindergarten Education (Teaching & Non-Teaching)
- BS in Elementary Education (K-6)
- Middle Grades (6-9)
- M.A.T. ( Elementary, Middle Grades, and, Birth through Kindergarten)
- M.Ed. ( Elementary, Reading, and Middle Grades)
- Licensure Only ( B-K, K-6, Middle Grades, Reading, and Special Education)
Primary Purpose of the Position
Provides instruction, supervision, and scholarly contributions in middle grades and secondary education programs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Earned doctorate in Middle Grades Education, Educational Leadership, or Curriculum Instruction or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- A minimum of three years of successful 6-9 teaching experience is required.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Evidence of scholarly or professional engagement.
Knowledge skills and abilities
We seek candidates with 6-9 Middle Grades Education teaching experience, teaching in a college/university teacher preparation program, and in supervising teachers. This position requires a commitment to strong middle grades 6-9 relationships and to working in a diverse workplace.
