Assistant Professor in Political Science
The Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for one and possibly two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Political Science with a specialization in political behavior, political psychology, or comparative research on political parties and/or electoral systems, public opinion or media.
The ideal candidate brings an innovative research agenda that is complementary to the department’s current strengths, and experience and enthusiasm to educate our students.
Core tasks include teaching introductory and advanced courses in the BA and MA programmes, developing and conducting high-quality empirical academic research, acquiring external research funding, and contributing to the research programme of the Programme Group Challenges to Democratic Representation.
Requirements: A completed doctoral thesis in Political Science or adjacent fields, proven ability to provide relevant academic teaching, expertise in empirical social sciences, an ongoing research programme with publications in international peer-reviewed journals, mastery of social science research methods, and the ability to teach in English and/or Dutch.
The position is for 38 hours per week, with a salary between €4728 and €6512 gross per month based on full-time employment. The contract is initially temporary for a maximum of 18 months, potentially leading to permanent employment.
