The Department of Sociology at LSE seeks to hire an outstanding Assistant Professor whose core research is in the field of cultural sociology with demonstrable expertise in the sociology of culture and technology. The post will add to our internationally renowned innovative and publicly engaged faculty.

The post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high-quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department and participating in the School and wider Department activities.

Candidates should have a completed PhD in Sociology or closely related social science discipline by the start date of the post. The ability to teach cultural theory and cultural processes, as well as the sociology of culture and technology at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including on the Department’s MSc Culture and Society and BSc Sociology programme, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications in cultural sociology, and have a clear, well-developed viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications. Expertise and research interests in culture and digital technology is desirable. A commitment to equality and diversity is essential.
