Job Summary
Position Description
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) seeks to fill a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Speech Science. The position requires an active research program with publications in peer-reviewed journals, current or clear potential for extramural funding, excellence in teaching and service within the UT Dallas and professional communities. Applicants with interests across the spectrum of basic, applied, and clinical research in speech are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to candidates with clinical or translational research programs and expertise in intervention research. Faculty members teach undergraduate and graduate level courses within their discipline and area of expertise. Cross-listing of undergraduate and graduate seminars facilitates multi-disciplinary student education.
The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Communication Sciences and Disorders; Speech, Language, and Hearing Science or a related discipline (e.g., Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Engineering) and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: A doctoral research degree is required prior to joining and postdoctoral experience is preferred. Clinical credentials are preferred but not required. Candidates with clinical or translational research programs will be prioritized for hire.
