Assistant Professor in Theoretical Optics
Position Objectives
The assistant professor will teach and research theoretical optics, focusing on mathematical modeling of optical materials, nonlinear optical systems, and optical phenomena in advanced materials.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Complex Analysis: Holomorphic functions, residue theorem, and their application to optical system analysis.
- Differential Geometry: Study surfaces and curves in optical materials using tensor calculus.
- Group Theory: Using symmetries in optical systems, particularly in diffraction and reflection phenomena.
- Numerical Methods: Modeling complex optical systems through numerical solution techniques and simulations.
- Linear Algebra: Solving linear systems in optical materials to study resonance modes.
Research Responsibilities
Study the nonlinear properties of optical materials and nonlinear optical phenomena such as second-harmonic generation, Raman scattering, and interference effects. Develop mathematical models for studying laser emitters, photonic materials, and manipulating light waves in nanostructured materials. Collaborate with experimental research groups to study optical effects in novel materials.
Requirements
- PhD in Theoretical Physics or a related field, specializing in theoretical optics and materials physics.
- Strong skills in mathematical modeling of optical systems and complex analysis.
- Experience with numerical simulations in nonlinear optical systems and photonics materials.
- Teaching Skills: Ability to teach at various levels (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral) and use modern pedagogical methods.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct high-impact and independent research and contribute to collaborative projects.
- Communication Skills: Excellent skills in communicating research findings to diverse audiences, writing scientific papers, and presenting at conferences.
- Languages: Proficiency in scientific English (both oral and written).
