Assistant Professor in Urban Climate Change Impacts
The Department of Geography and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo is seeking an exceptional scholar and researcher for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Urban climate change impacts with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in geography, climatology, meteorology, environmental management, sustainability, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of an actively developing research trajectory in climate change impacts and adaptation, with an emphasis on interactions between physical and human dimensions of climate change. The ability to contribute to teaching in urban climate systems and/or climate impacts on human health is required. Duties include establishing a well-funded research program, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and supervising graduate students. The ability to develop and teach an array of in-person and on-line courses is required, and teaching experience in climate change, meteorology, statistics and data analysis would be a major asset.
The starting salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $90,000 to $110,000. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
