WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a colleague to join the Department of Information and Library Studies with focus on the management of library and literary institutions, the sociology of literature, and cultural policy.

MAIN JOB CONTENT

Pedagogical

• Participating in lectures or other forms of teaching in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme, as well as lifelong learning programmes.
• Supervising, consulting, or reviewing Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
• In exceptional cases, a supervisor or consultant in doctoral degree programmes.
• Participating in the organizational provision of pedagogical activity.
• Participating in publishing activity, especially for educational purposes.

Research

Participation in research, development, and innovation activities, especially:

• independent investigation of complex research and development tasks and the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, scientific monographs, or peer-reviewed proceedings,
• active participation in domestic and foreign scientific conferences and professional meetings, and the presentation of research results,
• participation in the organizational provision of research activity.

Other

Participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the department head, e.g.:

• routine administrative tasks in the administration of own courses, use of e-learning and communication with students via the MU Information System,
• organising and participating in foreign internships for students and academic staff, participation in the promotion of the field.

WE REQUEST

Professional education, qualifications and experience

• completed Ph.D. – Doctoral Degree Programme - a condition
• professional focus on the management of library and literary institutions, the sociology of literature, and cultural policy – a condition
• experience in library or literary operations – an advantage
• active participation in international conferences
• professional experience abroad in an academic or research environment gained through a long-term stay
• publications in foreign periodicals

Length of experience required

• experience in the field at least 3 years - a condition

Language skills

• knowledge of English language at C1 level
• excellent knowledge of the Czech language in both written and spoken form

Requirements related to job content

• presentation, organizational, teaching, and mentoring skills
• willingness to learn and develop continuously
• ability to independently solve complex research tasks and contribute to the research projects of the department
• ability to publish independently
• patience, consideration, empathy, and friendliness when working and dealing with people
