The Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies (EPLS) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Research Stream) position in Leadership Studies, to begin July 1, 2026, or as negotiated. The successful applicant will join a program that holds a broad understanding of leadership across diverse contexts including schools, communities, adult education, and higher education. We share a commitment to transforming the discourses of leadership, education, and lifelong learning into relational ways of learning and leading that are attuned to complexity and grounded in principles of decolonization, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practices. This position also involves teaching, graduate supervision, curriculum development, and service responsibilities within a vibrant and collegial department supported by dedicated staff.

EPLS is renowned for its innovative on-campus and community-based initiatives, embracing diverse methodological approaches to broaden the reach and influence of our educational offerings. Salary Range The candidate's qualifications, experience and overall market demand will determine a candidate’s final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $136,000. UVic is committed to offering an equitable and competitive salary, inclusive of a generous benefits package, eligible leaves and pension plan.

Required Criteria

• Doctoral degree in leadership studies, educational studies, or equivalent
• Demonstrated capacity for respectful and fair engagement with colleagues, research participants, and students
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to promote our shared values of inclusion, social justice, and anti-oppressive practices
• A record of scholarly achievement commensurate with career stage; this may include community engaged scholarship and creative work.
• Demonstrated capacity or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas, as evidenced through scholarly work, teaching, or professional practice: Anti-oppressive practices in school and community, Research methodologies and methods, Leadership theory and practice, Educational policy and change, Adult and community education and learning, Teacher leadership, Higher education

Asset Criteria

• Experience with Indigenous learners/communities and/or minority learners/communities
• Competence in using varied and innovative teaching modalities, including blended, synchronous and asynchronous online learning, and experiential learning (practicum, community-based, land-based, graduate supervision)
