Job Summary
Department of agriculture has an immediate opening for tenure track position in Agricultural Education. The individual will be responsible for growing/building the agricultural education program. He/she will be an integral part of research activities aimed at strengthening the Department of Agriculture.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated skills in working with limited resource individuals and the ability to develop partnerships and collaborations
- Understanding of different ethnic and socioeconomic audiences, commitment to include diverse voices in program prioritization and planning, and a commitment to developing and delivering both inclusive and targeted programming
- Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with faculty, staff, students, and alumni
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate experiential learning
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective academic and career advising
- Two or more years professional experience in developing and delivering new courses
- Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activity
- Ability to form collaborative partnership
- Strong commitment to teaching, research, and service
- Excellent communication and demonstrated interest and ability in visual and electronic communication
Essential Job Functions
- Work as a member of the faculty in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences
- Participate in graduate education through advising graduate students serving on graduate committees, and supervising thesis research
- Teach undergraduate classes in Agricultural Education and other areas deemed necessary
- Procure grants, contracts, and other funding to support scholarly research
- Provide leadership and strategic planning to establish statewide agricultural education outreach
- Prepare publications and scholarly works, including peer reviewed journals popular articles, bulletins, and scientific articles
- Attend state, regional and national Agriculture Education meetings and conferences
- Evaluate and document expected results and impacts of educational programs on targeted audiences
- Mentor students for competitive career placement
- Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies
- Help with other duties as assigned duties
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Education, Agricultural Leadership or related discipline
- At least five years of teaching agriculture education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Knowledge about how to conduct audience needs identification, program development, experiential learning and evaluation of program results
