About the Role
The Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University invites applications for a part-time Assistant Professor position at the Department of Slavonic Studies, focusing on Ukrainian linguistics.
Key responsibilities include:
Pedagogical
- Participate in teaching for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and lifelong learning programs.
- Supervise, consult, and review Bachelor’s and Master’s theses; occasionally supervise doctoral students.
- Contribute to organizational aspects of teaching and pedagogical publications.
Research
- Conduct independent research and publish results in peer-reviewed journals, monographs, or proceedings.
- Present research at domestic and international conferences.
- Support the organizational aspects of research activity within the department.
Administrative & Other Tasks
- Perform routine course administration and e-learning tasks.
- Organize and participate in internships for students and academic staff.
- Promote the department and field of Ukrainian studies.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Philology (required)
- Ph.D. or equivalent (required)
- Professional focus on Ukrainian linguistics (required)
- Scientific publication record (required)
- Academic internship abroad of at least one month (required)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Ukrainian studies (advantageous)
Language Skills
- Ukrainian: C2 level
- Czech: excellent written and spoken skills
- English: high proficiency
Additional Skills
- Strong presentation, organizational, teaching, and mentoring abilities
- Ability to conduct and publish independent research
- Team-oriented with publishing and computer skills (MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)
