Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
Job Summary
The Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences welcomes applications for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position in the biology program of the Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Non-Tenure track faculty typically teach 15 contact hours per semester (undergraduate) or 30 contact hours per academic year
- Faculty are expected to contribute to the program, department, University, and profession through appropriate service obligations, including the advising of students and committee service.
- Teach undergraduate biochemistry and introductory chemistry courses as assigned (including, but not restricted to, general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry).
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Evaluate and grade students’ class/lab work, assignments, and papers.
- Collect and analyze data for program and university assessment.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
- Develop and use multimedia course materials and other current technology, such as online courses.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
- Assist department chair with continual program development.
- Participate in unit meetings and other university-wide activities/committees.
- Conduct research in their area of expertise and seek grant funding for projects.
