The Department of Business Administration in the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor in data analytics. The appointment will begin July 1, 2027.
Faculty in this position will teach our required "Fundamentals of Business Statistics and Data Analytics" course and develop electives that build on existing departmental strengths while expanding student opportunity. Areas of particular interest include sustainability analytics, ethics of data science, business intelligence, visual analytics, cultural and legal implications of digital technology, machine learning, AI, and data-driven storytelling, though we welcome candidates with expertise across a wide range of domains.
This position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching within an undergraduate liberal arts setting. We are particularly interested in candidates who value interdisciplinary studies and can integrate their course content with other disciplines. Additionally, candidates with expertise or experience in diverse pedagogical techniques and a strong interest in experiential learning are highly encouraged to apply.
The school calendar consists of two 13-week terms, one in the fall and one in the winter, along with our unique 4-week spring term. The regular teaching load is five courses per year. New hires teach a 2-2 load in their first year.
In addition to a passion for innovative undergraduate teaching, we seek candidates who demonstrate the capacity to publish scholarly research in business and related fields, and who are enthusiastic about making service contributions to the W&L community. To support faculty research agendas, the university has a generous five-year sabbatical cycle as well as a pre-tenure research leave program.

The expected salary for this position is between $147,000 - $157,000. Offers are based on factors such as relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the time of appointment. ABD candidates must present evidence that their dissertation will be defended by July 1, 2027, and have teaching experience. Ability to teach business statistics (with a preference for Python) and demonstrated teaching effectiveness are required.
