Job Description

The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Chemistry to begin August 2026. The candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry or appropriate related discipline. Primary teaching responsibilities may include general chemistry lectures and laboratories (for majors and/or non-majors) and other courses based on department needs and the candidates area of expertise. The faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching (80%), scholarship, and service in alignment with the mission of the University, the School, and the Department. The faculty members scholarly activity will align with their disciplinary interests and contribute to undergraduate research through guided mentorship. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidate will participate in LMUs New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new faculty member will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and support from a faculty mentor assigned by the department. The position serves the undergraduate program on the Harrogate, TN campus. LMU is nestled in the unique Cumberland Gap region where Tennessee meets Kentucky and Virgina.

Required Qualifications

• earned PhD in Chemistry or appropriate related discipline;
• educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and
• evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity

Preferred Qualifications

• college-level teaching experience
