The Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University seeks to hire a SUNY Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Fellow at the Lecturer level to begin in Fall 2026.
The PRODiG Plus Fellowship is designed with two primary goals: (1) increase the number and share of excellent and diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. Candidates in various fields and sub-disciplines of chemistry, including both experimentalists and theorists, will be considered. The new faculty member is expected to establish a vibrant, extramurally funded research program that synergizes with existing chemistry faculty and contributes to Stony Brook University's strategic priorities in artificial intelligence, global health, quantum information science, and climate science. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, a demonstrated record of excellence in innovative research, and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate chemistry. The fellowship is for a 12-month appointment for two years, with the goal of conversion to a tenure-track assistant professorship at the conclusion of the fellowship.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
- Have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to the start date.
- Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess relevant postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.
- Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows. From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students, have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
- Quality and fundability of proposed research. Based on creativity of and originality of ideas and ability to successfully conduct impactful research.
- Potential impact on the research mission of the University.
- Potential impact on the educational mission of the University.
