QUALIFICATIONS:

Required qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Experience in teaching and mentoring Masters' level students is required, and preference will also be given to candidates with experience supervising practicum and internship students. Individuals should demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, the ability to work collaboratively with others, a commitment to affirming inclusive environments and engaging across differences, and scholarly activity in professional counseling. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible in mental health counseling (LMHC) and/or marriage and family therapy (LMFT) in the state of Florida.

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to both Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling (MCFC) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) specialty areas. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience, teaching experience, a scholarly record, and/or other professional qualifications in MCFC. Preference will also be given to applicants with previous full-time counselor education experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stetson's Counselor Education department focuses on education of the whole student through a strong foundation in the core CACREP content areas, experiential learning, and professional mentoring relationships with faculty. This tenure-track position has a strong focus on teaching and mentoring graduate students from a broad cross section of diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses within our two CACREP-accredited programs in MCFC and CMHC. The teaching load includes three (3) courses each in the fall and spring semesters, with additional teaching opportunities contracted separately in the summer semester.

Candidates should demonstrate a passion for the highest quality of teaching, combined with the ability to produce rigorous peer-reviewed academic scholarship. Scholarly activity leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals and service to the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, the University, and the profession are required. For more information on our expectations in teaching and scholarship, our tenure policies, and our support for faculty development, please see the Academic Affairs website.

Our commitment is to produce stellar graduates whose work centers on helping individuals, couples, and families in a diverse world. Our faculty are engaged in initiatives that include externally funded grant activities, leadership within professional counseling organizations, collaborative work across departments within the University to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community, and local and international work centered on the development of culturally sustaining programs and interventions for vulnerable populations. These initiatives create unique and exciting opportunities for our students and for the individual who will be joining our team.
