Assistant Professor of Education
Position Overview
The School of Education at Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) invites applications for a 10-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Administration, Supervision, and Policy. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and mission-driven community committed to preparing educators and leaders who advance equity, excellence, and ethical leadership in P–12 schools and educational organizations.
The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of educational leaders through teaching, advising, and scholarship focused on administration, supervision, education policy, and leadership development. Candidates with expertise in educational policy analysis, organizational change, supervision and evaluation, and leadership for diverse learning communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach graduate and/or doctoral courses in educational leadership, supervision, and policy (in both face-to-face and hybrid/online formats).
- Advise and mentor master’s, certificate, and doctoral students in leadership programs.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts aligned with CAEP, MSDE, and national standards for educational leadership preparation.
- Engage in scholarly and applied research that advances the mission of the School of Education.
- Participate in university, school, and program-level committees, assessment, and accreditation activities.
- Foster partnerships with local school districts, community organizations, and educational agencies to strengthen leadership preparation pathways.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive academic community that values innovation, reflection, and professional growth.
Qualifications
Required:
- Earned doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Education Policy, or a closely related field (ABD considered with completion by start date).
- Demonstrated expertise and teaching experience in areas such as educational supervision, organizational leadership, school improvement, or education policy.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.
- Evidence of scholarly potential, including the ability to conduct and mentor graduate-level research.
- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally within a student-centered learning community.
- Proficiency in research design and methodology, particularly in applying qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches to educational leadership and policy studies.
Preferred:
- Successful experience as a P–12 school or district leader (principal, assistant principal, supervisor, or policy administrator).
- Familiarity with MSDE certification requirements for Administration and Supervision.
- Experience with accreditation processes (CAEP or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain school, district, or community partnerships.
- Experience serving as a chair or reader on a dissertation committee
