Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Dean and the Chair of the Department of Economics and Business Administration (EBA) in the Delaplaine School of Business and Communication (DSBC) at Hood College, we invite applications for an Assistant Professor of Finance. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position responsible for teaching finance and related business courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It requires the candidate to engage in scholarly activity, advise and mentor students, and contribute service to the department, DSBC, and Hood College.
The candidate will be expected to teach courses in financial management, business finance, investment analysis, fixed income, financial derivatives, and portfolio management, as well as other business courses as needed, at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The ability to teach courses in accounting is a plus.
Our undergraduate business programs and MBA program are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The successful candidate must be student-focused and deeply committed to the mission of the Delaplaine School of Business and Communication and Hood College. At Hood College and the DSBC, we prioritize a student-centric approach in all aspects of education, from classroom instruction to individual student engagement. We are seeking individuals with an earned doctorate in a relevant field who are passionate about teaching. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to contribute not only within the department and DSBC but also to the broader campus curriculum.
In addition to pursuing excellence in teaching, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and its classroom applications. Additionally, the successful candidate will mentor and advise undergraduate Business majors in both curricular and professional matters and may also advise graduate research. The candidate must show initiative in service to the department, DSBC, and Hood College.

Teaching/Instruction (60%)
