The Department of Genetics is seeking a board-eligible/certified Clinical Geneticist to join its faculty at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will become part of an outstanding team of clinical care providers at Yale School of Medicine.

Clinical and Research Opportunities

The role includes opportunities to participate in:

  • Clinical research
  • Gene therapy programs
  • New drug trials for genetic diseases

Clinical Responsibilities

The faculty appointee will:

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient genetic consultations
  • Manage patients as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team including: Faculty physicians, Nurses, Genetic counselors, Dietitians
  • Participate in evaluation and management of the Connecticut newborn screening program
  • Serve on advisory council activities related to newborn screening

Teaching and Academic Duties

The appointee will:

  • Teach trainees in medical genetics
  • Participate in case conferences and grand rounds
  • Contribute to academic mentorship and training programs

Research and Professional Development

Clinical Services and Infrastructure

The Department provides comprehensive clinical genetics care across:

  • General genetics
  • Metabolic genetics
  • Neurogenetics
  • Cardiac genetics
  • Other subspecialties

It includes:

  • Inpatient and outpatient consultation services
  • On-site cytogenetics and DNA diagnostic laboratories
  • Whole exome and genome sequencing capabilities
  • Collaboration with the Yale Center for Genome Analysis

The Department also sponsors a Medical Genetics Residency Program leading to American Board of Medical Genetics certification.

It is internationally recognized for pioneering clinical use of exome sequencing.

Qualifications

  • M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree required
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Clinical Genetics
