The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program beginning in August 2027. We seek an engaged educator and active practitioner with dedicated expertise in User Experience/User Interface Design and Motion Graphics. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our curriculum in interactive media, delivering high-impact studio instruction, and contributing to the academic and professional development of our undergraduate students.

Outcome:
The successful candidate will teach an engaging mix of foundational and advanced BFA courses, spanning from typography, identity systems, design research, and professional practice to UX/UI, and motion graphics with the opportunity to modernize and expand program offerings to reflect emerging trends in interactive media, emerging technologies, and contemporary design practice. Beyond cultivating student excellence in the studio environment, the successful candidate will provide dedicated mentorship through academic advising, engage in service to our academic community, and maintain a robust, active creative or scholarly practice supported by the institution.
Essential Functions
- Teach four 3-credit courses per semester (Fall and Spring)
- Provide mentorship to students via academic advising
- Service to the college community
- Maintain an active scholarly and/or creative practice
We are looking for a collaborative colleague who can bring a healthy mixture of classroom experience and real-world insight.
Required:
- Terminal degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Media, Visual Communication, or a closely related field (MFA or equivalent).
