Description: The Department of Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management (RHTM), in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences (CEHHS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) seeks an Assistant Professor with an emphasis on Hospitality and Tourism Management. Preferred specialization areas include: (1) Data insights and analytics (big data) (2) Data-driven marketing or (3) Revenue Management. This is a tenure-track, nine-month position with a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management (RHTM) using diverse modalities (in-person, hybrid, or online).
- Conduct research and build scholarship that can complement the expertise of the department and college.
- Actively participate in graduate education and mentor doctoral students.
- Provide service to the department, college, and the university.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in Hospitality Management or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
- Potential to develop a cohesive research agenda in hospitality management
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness for undergraduate or graduate courses.
Desired Qualifications:
- A proven record of teaching and research in hospitality management, preferably one of the three areas of specialization listed above
- Internal and external grant writing experience
- Progressive managerial experience in the hospitality industry
