Position Description
The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Qualified candidates must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. All areas in electrical engineering will be considered. Candidates with expertise or teaching experience in computer engineering or digital systems are especially encouraged to apply.
Job duties: Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence. Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes. Contribute assessment information and data as requested. Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students. Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching constraints. Teach 7-8 classes each academic year.
The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates are sought with prior teaching repertoire that includes two or more undergraduate-level classes, and with strong commitment to undergraduate education.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
UT Dallas's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was founded in 1986 and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees. According to US News and World Report, it is ranked 51st among all universities and 28th among all public universities. In Texas, ECE is ranked 3rd in its field. The department is home to over 1,200 undergraduate students, 350 graduate students, and 51 faculty members.
