Job Description
OHIO University Eastern invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction in Social Work available August 16, 2026. This position is 1.0 FTE with a teaching load of 24 semester hours or equivalent per academic year as well as service.
The candidate who fills this position is expected to teach undergraduate social work courses in support of the university social work degree programs on this campus and possibly other external sites in the university system including field seminar and practicums. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching, the ability to integrate technology in the classroom, to enhance the learning process and the skills necessary to inspire, motivate and empower a diverse student body to succeed. Instruction may be in person, through distance learning systems, online or for other campus locations.
Ancillary duties may include mentoring students, securing practicum and field sites for social work students and serving as an advisor for student associations.
Ohio University's undergraduate Social Work program was one of the first in the country to be accredited by CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) and has continually maintained that status. The rural-focused MSW program is accredited by CSWE.
The Eastern campus, located in St.Clairsville, Ohio, is part of Regional Higher Education (RHE), and is one of five regional campuses serving students throughout Southeastern and portions of Central Ohio, as well as West Virginia and Kentucky, with a comprised enrollment of approximately 4,000 students. Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
At least two (2) years of direct practice experience in social work post-MSW is required.
A current social work license or eligibility for licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Social Work.
Licensed Independent or Clinical Social Worker.
Evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level.
