Assistant Professor of Law

Position Overview

The LTF appointment focuses exclusively on teaching and service, with no research expectation. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Commerce program
  • Mentoring and supervising students, including junior scholars
  • Contributing to departmental and university service

Teaching areas: Broadly in business law, including but not limited to:

  • Contract law
  • Tort law
  • White-collar and cybercrime
  • Corporate governance
  • Securities law
  • Real estate law
  • Hospitality/tourism law
  • International business law

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Law (PhD/SJD/JSD/LLD) or closely related field; near-completion considered in exceptional cases
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching (dossier including philosophy, pedagogy, technology use, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations, awards)
  • Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in teaching and service
  • Ability to contribute to departmental, school, and university life through collegial service

Notes:

  • LTF appointments may not exceed a total of 4 years at TMU
  • Prior LTF appointments at TMU may affect eligibility

Salary & Benefits

  • Minimum salary: $103,916.30 CAD per annum
  • Falls under the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) collective agreement
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications
