POSITION SUMMARY:
Rogers State University is accepting applications for full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics position within the Department of Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Engineering. A doctorate degree in Mathematics or related field is required and must be conferred by the appointment start date of Fall 2026. The primary duty of this faculty member will be to teach undergraduate mathematics courses for science, technology, and engineering programs. In addition, a successful faculty member will pursue academic research and support university operations through service appointments.

The position is a ten-month appointment with the possibility of additional summer salary (teaching or research) based on need and available funding. Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement and three to five references. PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide instruction with online or on-ground undergraduate courses in mathematics as assigned by the Department Head;
  • Design courses to effectively meet curricular requirements and accreditation standards. Develop and use syllabi based on university guidelines;
  • Provide student support via email, MyRSU, and Blackboard;
  • Grade and post student work while providing constructive and detailed feedback to help students achieve academic success;
  • Serve on departmental and university committees as needed;
  • Contribute to community outreach, departmental recruitment efforts, and engagement initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Previous teaching experience preferred;
  • Effective use of technology for in-person, online, hybrid, and distance learning;
  • The ability to motivate students and aid them in becoming self-disciplined and effective time managers;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in the designated field of study from an accredited institution and a commitment to teaching excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research;
  • Able to pursue funding opportunities to support research activities;
  • Commitment to publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present research at academic and professional conferences.

REPORTS TO: Department Chair: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Engineering

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Students

HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

POSITION: Exempt
