In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $120,000.00 Annually
Maximum: $120,000.00 Annually
Job Summary
This is a College of Health Sciences Faculty-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty role of Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Education (PCN 999673) and the administrative appointment (PCN A04177) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE).
The salary range listed in this posting does not represents the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting for details on the additional assignment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy practice.
- Knowledge of content in the area of assigned instruction.
Skills:
- Experience of 2 or more years in the area in which courses will be taught.
Ability:
- Ability to organize and present material in lecture and laboratory.
- Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups as well as one-on-one.
- Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.
- Strong interest in and prior exposure to conducting research beyond graduate thesis/dissertation.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- An entry-level doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
Experience:
- Three to five years' experience teaching in content area.
Licensure:
- As required. California State PT license or eligible for State licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of physical therapy practice and an established research agenda and interest in administration.

Essential Job Duties
- Instruction and supervision of students during labs.
- Reinforce curriculum presented by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
- Assist faculty with laboratory assessment activities such as lab competencies and lab practicum. (practicals & check offs)
- Provide the highest quality of clinical supervision.
- Maintain and promote high standards of intellectual integrity.
- Working cooperatively with other members of the faculty and staff in an effort to contribute to overall institutional effectiveness.
Communication:
- Interact professionally within the department, College and University with all levels of administration and support. Be timely and accurate in all communications.
Clinical Practice of Physical Therapy/Professional Development.
- Maintain contemporary skills and knowledge via clinical practice and/or continuing education.
Performing other duties as assigned.
