Assistant Professor of Physics / R0078019
The Physics Program in the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics (R0078019) to start on August 16, 2026. The Physics Program is dedicated to high-quality education and research at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Physics faculty will primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses in condensed matter physics, including special topics and laboratory sessions. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain a strong externally funded research program in a specific area of physical sciences, either experimental or theoretical, in condensed matter physics, leading to peer-reviewed publications and external funding. The Physics Program has SEM, EDX, XRD, Raman spectrometer and other standard instrumentation. Additional campus assets include spectroscopy and microscopy instrumentation in the Center of Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences (https://ualr.edu/nanotechnology/). This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and/or Experience: Ph.D. in Physics. All Ph.D. requirements must be completed before employment commences.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Demonstrated leadership in collaborative research efforts and student mentorship, a record of external funding (e.g., from NSF, NIH, or industry), experience with interdisciplinary research, and familiarity with the use of modern teaching technologies and active learning strategies.
