About the Department
The Department of Physics is one of the largest within the Faculty of Science, supporting a broad range of experimental and theoretical research. It employs ~230 staff, including 60 PhD students, many of whom are internationally recruited. The department is part of AlbaNova University Center, alongside the Department of Astronomy, KTH Physics, and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (Nordita).
Researchers are also part of the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics (OKC), which hosts over 100 researchers working in theory and experiment.

Subject Area
Data-intensive methods in fundamental physics, astrophysics, particle physics, and cosmology.
Focus: Method development for data analysis techniques and machine learning applications in fundamental physics and astrophysics.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct research in data-intensive methods for fundamental physics, astrophysics, and cosmology
- Participate in teaching and supervision
- Collaborate with researchers at OKC, the Department of Astronomy, and KTH Physics
- Support initiatives linking high-tech industry, teaching, and research
Qualification Requirements
- PhD in Sweden or equivalent degree from another country
- Priority for degrees obtained within 7 years; earlier degrees considered under special circumstances (e.g., parental leave, sick leave)
- Ability to collaborate and suitability for teaching and research tasks

- Research skills (primary focus)
- Teaching skills (secondary consideration)
Terms of Employment
- Position type: Assistant Professor (biträdande lektor), tenure-track
- Fixed term: 6 years (possible extension to 8 years under special circumstances)
- Promotion: Eligible to apply for permanent Associate Professor position
- Employment linked to OKC research activities, including postdoctoral support for up to five years
