Serve as a mentor to students exploring career pathways,
internships, applied experiences, and graduate study;
Develop partnerships with criminal justice and related
organizations;
Represent the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at
Admissions events.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Criminology Criminal Justice Law Public
Administration or a related field.;
- Relevant professional or research experience in criminal
justice law public safety victim services law enforcement courts
corrections government nonprofit or community-based organizations
or another field related to the department’s programs;
- Demonstrated ability or potential to be an effective and
engaging college level teacher who can connect academic concepts
with contemporary issues and professional practice;
- Preparation to teach courses in research methods and/or
statistics in criminology and criminal justice as well as courses
related to the candidate’s areas of expertise;
- Interest and ability to build relationships with professionals
agencies and community organizations that can enhance students’
classroom experiential learning and career opportunities;
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and
contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate
programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching or supporting student learning at the
undergraduate or graduate level.
- Expertise in domestic violence and/or victimology although
candidates with expertise in other areas of criminology and
criminal justice are encouraged to apply.
- Experience mentoring students, interns or early-career
professionals.
- Experience with internships field-based learning
community-engaged projects or other forms of experiential
education.
- Professional relationships within the criminal justice or
public service community that could contribute to student learning
and career exploration

Compensation
The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for
the Assistant Professor of Practice position is $ 78 000-$ 90 000.
The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined
based on factors such as but not limited to candidate
qualifications and prior experience scope of responsibilities
internal equity and market considerations
Work Location
This is an on-campus position as
employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus,
residential college experience for our students and the
community.
This position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal
background check.
