AUM’s BSW program is accredited by CSWE and is one of the fastest-growing majors on our campus. Our program, grounded in a liberal arts perspective, educates social workers to be ethical and competent practitioners who intervene and advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice across all system levels (individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities) utilizing a generalist perspective within a person-in-environment context. The Department of Social Work and Anthropology currently includes nine full-time faculty lines and is expected to grow over the next few years. In addition to the majors, the department offers minors in Anthropology, Child Advocacy Studies, and Social Work, as well as interdisciplinary certificates in Gerontology and Museum Studies and Public Humanities. Responsibilities Duties include teaching core and elective undergraduate Social Work courses, maintaining a productive research agenda that includes publishing and presenting in professional venues, professional advising for online and on-campus students, recruitment and retention efforts, assisting with maintaining the program’s accreditation, and adding to the service mission of the university. Qualifications A DSW or PhD in Social Work and an MSW from a CSWE -accredited program with at least two years of post- MSW practice is required. However, candidates with an MSW from a CSWE -accredited program with two years of full-time post- MSW experience and a PhD in a related field may be considered. Other qualifications include: • Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with faculty and administration across the university • A record of professional activities related to social work practice and education • Online teaching experience preferred Why Work at AUM?
