Required Education: Qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology or a closely related field (i.e., Kinesiology, Counseling Psychology, Health Sciences, Exercise Science). The incoming faculty member must have formal graduate training in applied Sport and Exercise Psychology and Counseling.

Required License/Registration/Certification: Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) mentor designation is required at the time of appointment.
Job Summary: The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a Regular Title Series, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor position, with a focus in Sport and Exercise Psychology (SEP). The appointment will be a nine-month appointment, effective August 15, 2026. Primary responsibilities include:
- Research: Develop an active and externally funded research program in sport, exercise, and/or performance psychology. Produce high-quality scholarly publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to pursue interdisciplinary research opportunities. Supervise graduate student research and mentor undergraduate research. Disseminate research findings through national and international conferences.
- Teaching: Teach 12 credits per academic year, which includes responsibilities in supervision/mentorship of SEP student applied hours. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses with a primary focus in sport, exercise, and performance psychology, ethics in applied sport psychology, group dynamics, research methods, and/or sport leadership. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees. Be an active participant in the SEP undergraduate and graduate programs (implementation, evaluation, and promotion). Serve on undergraduate and graduate student thesis/exam committees. Contribute to professional organizations (e.g., AASP, APA, ACA, etc.), and engage in community outreach relevant to sport, exercise, and performance psychology.
