Salary

£45,413 to £57,422 per annum, pro-rata, depending on skills and experience.
Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The salary is based on the Clinical Veterinary Assistant Professor scale.
Depending on the individual and their duties, the role may attract an additional non-consolidated clinical supplement of up to 20%.

About the Role

The University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, wishes to expand its veterinary pathology team with the appointment of a Veterinary Clinical Pathologist.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the education and professional development of future veterinary surgeons and veterinary clinical pathologists by sharing your expertise, ensuring clinical competence, and inspiring lifelong learning in veterinary clinical pathology.

Based at the Sutton Bonington Campus, and working closely with university pathologists and clinicians as well as clinicians in associate veterinary practices, you will:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Year 5 clinical rotation teaching
  • Deliver and assess relevant subject teaching in Years 1–4 of the veterinary course
  • Assist in the further development of the School’s postgraduate training programme in clinical pathology

About You

You will:

  • Hold a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Have completed a postgraduate training programme in veterinary clinical pathology, or possess equivalent experience
  • Have several years’ experience working in academic or commercial diagnostic service environments
  • Demonstrate strong diagnostic expertise and communication skills

Clinical Teaching Environment

The School of Veterinary Medicine operates a distributed clinical teaching model and does not run its own veterinary hospital or dedicated clinical pathology laboratory.

However:

  • Several clinical associate practices have on-site laboratories, where you will provide support and guidance
  • Collaboration with the School’s active diagnostic anatomic pathology service is encouraged
  • Opportunities exist for investigation into cytology–histopathology correlates

Research Environment

The School hosts a diverse range of research activities, facilities and equipment designed to support enquiry and innovation.
Collaboration with research teams across the School and University will be actively encouraged.
